Did you know by doing 10-60 minutes of Yoga everyday...

I know that there are so many other things that you could do other than doing Yoga but believe me by doing 10-60 minutes of Yoga everyday, you will gain so many benefits!


1. Reduce stress

Trust me by doing Yoga, you can release your stress. According to Woodyard (2011), practicing yoga does help in reducing stress as well as anxiety and depression! This is because by practicing Yoga, you are able to control your stress in a more flexible way. The practice of yoga produces a physiological state opposite to that of the flight-or-fight stress response and with that interruption in the stress response, a sense of balance and union between the mind and body can be achieved (Woodyard, 2011).


2. Good sleep

Many students often share their experience that doing Yoga really help them to have a good sleep! I am also amazed at how Yoga has really helped me on this since I have problem sleeping at night. One possible reason explained for better sleep quality in Yoga practitioners is that Yoga exercises involve stretching and relaxing of muscles causing significant physical and mental exertion resulting in less sleep latency, more deep sleep, less sleep disturbances, and better sleep efficiency (Bankar, Chaudhari & Chaudhari, 2013).


3. Improve flexibility and mobility

According to Polsgrove, Eggleston & Lockyer (2016), athletes who practiced yoga for 10 weeks demonstrated the improvement in both flexibility and balance measures. A study done by them for college athletes shows improvement in their flexibility. This could be because when we are doing some of the movements, we will have to coordinate it with our breath while engaging our core hence this helps to challenge our body in total.


Imagine getting these benefits everyday just by doing YOGA! Yoga is truly a magic to many people and I do hope more people will start to do Yoga to have a happier life!
